The track and field events of running, jumping and throwing started during sports field events during the Ancient Olympic Games in Olympia Greece. Events were added and included long jump, javelin throw, discus throw, stadion footrace and wrestling. The pole vault was the last event to be added.
The first track and field events held in the United States of America started in 1876 at the New York Athletic Club.
There are three categories for events:
1. track events
2. field events
3. combined events
Pole vaulting is a track and field sport where the sports player uses a long, flexible pole to help him or her jump over a bar. Is a major jumping event and is included in track and field. Pole vaulters must have running speed and may have gymnastics skills as well. This pole vaulting design is perfect for team practice.
